ONSTED, Mich. -

Many high school students struggle keeping up their grades, which prevents them from taking part in other school and community activities.

Onsted High School’s Nicole Sweet is not one of those students.

SAND CREEK, Mich. -

The future is going to get even tougher for recent Sand Creek High School graduate Brad Smith.

Smith will be taking a step up on the athletic fields and in the classrooms when he goes to Adrian College next fall.

If his high school experience proves anything, Smith is most likely up to the challenge.

For his work on the fields and in the classrooms, Smith has been named one of the county’s top scholar-athletes by The Daily Telegram’s sports staff.

Albion College Sports - More than 120 Britons land on MIAA Honor Roll
Nine Albion squads (men’s basketball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, women’s golf, women’s soccer, women’s swimming & diving, women’s tennis, women’s track & field, and volleyball) earned MIAA Team GPA awards for achieving a 3.3 GPA for the 2008-2009 academic year. The women’s soccer squad, coached by Lisa Roschek, and the women’s tennis team, coached by Scott Frew, have earned the Team GPA distinction every year since the award was initiated in 1998-1999.

The complete list of student-athletes named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll follows. The asterisk (*) symbol denotes the number of years each student-athlete has been named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

MHSAA spring finals airing soon online and Comcast

EAST LANSING - High school sports fans can relive the action of spring Michigan High School Athletic Association championships in the coming days on the MHSAA.tv Website and Comcast Channel 900.

For the first time, the MHSAA Track & Field Finals will be shown, with separate shows for each division and each gender in the Lower Peninsula beginning July 12. All running finals will be shown, and a summary of the field events will be presented.
