Twelve first-place finishes by the Spring Lake boys track team lifted the Lakers to a 85-52 victory at Grant High School on Thursday in a Lakes Eight Conference meet.

Senior C.R. Mohrhardt had a hand in three first-place finishes against the Tigers, winning the pole vault by clearing 10 feet, taking the 100 dash in 11.95 seconds, and running a leg in the victorious 400-meter relay. Mohrhardt was joined by Michael Latsch, Andy Skendrovic, and Ibrahim Hamati.

Latsch swept the hudle events for the Lakers, winning the 110-meter in 16.14, and the 300-meter in 44.31. He also teamed up with Chad Setterbo, Skendrovic and Bobby Chapman on the 1,600 relay that won in 3:46.52.

Other winners for the Lakers included Setterbo in the high jump (6-0); Blake Rottschafer in the 1,600 (4:42.20); Steven Kramer in the 800 (2:12.47); Skendrovic in the 200 dash (24.91); Tyler Fedewa in the 3,200 (10:42.25); and the Lakers’ 3,200 relay team of Kramer, Chapman, Fedewa and Rottschafer (9:02.54).

SL GIRLS FALL TO TIGERS

Spring Lake’s girls won three field events against the Tigers, but it wasn’t enough to propell them to victory, as the Lakers fell 85-52.

The Lakers took the pole vault behind Danielle Berkobien clearing 7 feet, while Becca Mumby won the high jump at 4-10, and Kathryn Rumptz won the long jump at 14-5.5.

Spring Lake scored victories in a pair of dashes, as Lindsay Bogi won the 100-meters (14.24) and Rosie Seitz was a winner in the 400 (1:05.35).

Grant controlled the distance events, except in the 3,200 as Halle Billinghurst won in 12:50.19.
